I want to write small motivational pieces for Christians on Wednesdays. I usually have no end of things to say when it comes to Christian topics, so I don’t plan ahead much. I wake up and get going with whatever is on my mind that day.
For some reason today, I am drawing a blank. The sound of crickets in the background is especially amusing this morning.
What do we do when we expect to hear from the Lord, but we don’t?
When this happens to me, the first thing I do is question myself.
Is there something I am doing that keeps me from hearing Him? Am I too distracted by my life? Am I resisting something that is difficult to hear because I’d rather not deal with it? Have I gone astray into sin in some way?
If my conscience is clear in these things, then I chalk it up to the need for patience and accepting the perfect timing and will of God.
God is not our puppet. When we pray to Him, we should expect an answer, but sometimes the answer is no or not right now. He knows what He is doing, so we should learn to trust in Him.
I’ll be the first to say that I do not like waiting. If it were possible to annoy God, I would be annoying because I know that God is a “rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” So, if there is something I want from Jesus, I keep asking.
I know it can be frustrating when we don’t hear from Him, but if we are seeking Him with a pure heart then we know that He does hear us.
Whatever it is that you are asking of the Lord, keep asking and trust in His perfect will and timing for your life. If this is hard to do, then maybe learning to wait is just what you need.
Be still. Listen to the crickets, and maybe He will answer, though things might take an unexpected turn.
If you do not notice an answer, then maybe the answer is no or not right now. Maybe there is something in the way that you need to deal with, or maybe there is something more important that He is doing in your life that is contrary to what you want right now.
In all things, keep going and trust in Jesus.
You may think you drew a blank but God placed this on heart. Beautifully written and so true
